COVERED A Body of Work by Jen Seidel

I am excited to be printing and publishing my first body paint book called “COVERED A Body of Work By Jen Seidel“, which is expected to be released sometime in the late Spring of 2014. The book is a 10.5 x 10.5 coffee table body paint book including my story from the beginning of how I got started in the body painting world and my journey. I am now able to fund the printing and  publishing of my body paint book with the help of Kickstarter, an online campaign program that helps individuals raise the targeted goal for their project. This was a long month and a heavy campaign but I am very thankful for all of my backers and supporters! Their names will be included on an insert that will be delivered within every book. I am very thankful for Chris West at  😯 West Studios for being by my side during this campaign and taking on just as much work load as I had. I couldn’t have done it without your help and partnership! So thank you, thank you, thank you!

Being a Makeup Artist  for my mother Linda Seidel, a nationally known makeup guru with her own specialty line of foundations and powders to cover an array of skin disorders and imperfections, helped me learn the many ways to use makeup from very serious situations to theatrical and fun fantasy makeup .

I decided one day to Body Paint myself as a Cheetah for Halloween and asked my mother for help, along with my two daughters, Claudia and Kennedy, which at the time were very young but still able to help me. After this project, I decided to start painting others, which eventually lead me to painting bodies for charities and events plus many artistic photo shoots creating original art  and showpieces which you will find featured in my book, “COVERED A Body of Work by Jen Seidel“. I had the honors of working with so many photographers and models and I was able to build a wide variety of unique images for my portfolio.  Many of these events and shoots were based in and around Baltimore, Maryland but it also took a turn to Washington DC , New York City and parts of Florida.

I ended up in Washington’s Finest Magazine with a three page spread on my work and I and my art popped up  in InStyle Magazine because of a New York City event I landed.  My career as an artist was blossoming quickly and people started to take notice of my body painting art work. Eventually word traveled and before I new it,  my work was being seen on the West Coast in videos that had been filmed featuring all of my work and  the Flower Girl, now displayed as the COVER of my book, started getting attention. . My work includes Body Painting for not only fine art but advertising, corporate events, countless charities and scientific advancement. And to think it was all because of one magical idea, one evening, to paint myself.

Since the beginning of my artistry, I have fought the battle of bringing the art form that is Body Painting out of the dark and into the light of the mainstream. I believe with my elegant and unique approach to my craft, I will  stay dedicated to painting my talents on the human body to raise awareness for Art, and for Life. Profits from my work are devoted to charities and organizations of my choosing. In this way, I “Paint it Forward.” Enter my world and into my body paint book, “COVERED, A Body of Work By Jen Seidel” to learn my personal story of my struggles from the beginning of my journey, and discover the possibilities of taking the road less traveled.
